Originally in folk-jazz group Lammas, leader of a regular band at London's Pizza Express and then recruited to join Chick Corea, Tim Garland is now one of Britain's best known jazz saxophonists. In this programme he joins Alyn Shipton to pick not only examples of his work in all those contexts, but also in orchestral settings, with his Lighthouse Trio, Acoustic Triangle, and his current touring band with Americans Joe Locke and Geoff Keezer, known as Storms / Nocturnes.

Claire Martin with an interview and concert music from the legendary American jazz drummer Roy Haynes recorded at the 2011 London Jazz Festival. Alongside bandleader Roy Haynes on drums, the performance showcases his Fountain of Youth Band with Martin Bejerano on piano, Jaleel Shaw on saxophone and David Wong on bass and was recorded at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre on the 18th of Novemeber 2011.

His career has spanned more than five decades and includes the chat show Wogan, the Eurovision Song Contest, the quiz Blankety Blank and for many years being the host of Radio 2's breakfast show.

He says: "You have to create a kind of little club - you are not talking to an audience, you are talking to one person - and they are only half listening anyway. It's a mistake to think that everyone is clinging to your every word."
